Indoor Air Quality & The Power Of Plants

Have you ever stopped to think that your home or office may be a toxic environment and the cause of your mystery illness? Have you ever thought about the quality of the air that you breathe for hours and hours, day in and day out?

Fragrances, air fresheners, exhaust fumes, furnishings, upholstery, synthetic building materials, paints, cleaning products, mould, pollen….. the list goes on!

Sadly indoor air pollution is a serious risk to you and your family’s health. It even has a medical term, “sick building syndrome.”

Thankfully mother nature continues to have the solutions to help to keep us healthy- INDOOR PLANTS!!

Plants provide us with a natural tool to help remove some of the toxic agents from our environment and to create cleaner air for us to breathe. They are also easy to maintain and inexpensive.

Some of the toxins that plants are capable of removing from the air may be a mouthful for some of us, but an easy job for them (benzene, xylene, formaldehyde, toluene, ammonia, trichlorethylene) ðŸ˜€

Some of the best indoor plants to invest in are:

PEACE LILY
FLAMINGO LILY
ARECA PALM
ENGLISH IVY
BOSTON FERN
MONEY PLANT
SNAKE PLANT
CORN STALK DRACAENA
WEEPING FIG
ALOE VERA

In the mid 80’s NASA begun studying the amazing air purification properties of plants in an attempt to create cleaner air in their space stations. Read all about their study results in the article here.

Next time you are wanting to give someone a gift, how about you ditch the flowers, wine and chocolates and give them the gift of a plant. Their health will thank you for it!
