Choice

Choice

No one can make you think or feel anything. What did you say? Yes, you are in complete control of your mind; your thoughts, your feelings and your beliefs, therefore you always have a CHOICE.

In each and every situation your perception defines the events that surround you; basically categorising them as good or bad- you make a judgment. The greater the emotions that are involved in that event, the stronger your beliefs will show up and play out.

Your perception is extremely subjective and does ‘not’ allow you to only see what is right in front of you. It adds a story, a reaction and emotions to the event.

Two people can be at the exact same event, have the exact same conversation and yet interpret the event completely differently based on the state of their inner world.

Who can recall an event in their life that this has happened?

The longer you repeat the created story of the event in your head, the more you will believe it to be true and your ability to see things differently only gets more and more difficult. You become stuck!

Your perception is based solely on your belief system that was pre-programmed early on in life as part of your survival instinct. You were programmed to detect dangers and threats that were necessary for human evolution, but are unnecessary in our modern world.

Early life events that were surrounded with strong emotions were the basis for the creation of these beliefs. Unfortunately the brain has not yet evolved and still holds onto this survival function, even when survival isn’t at stake.

Sadly, if a current life events triggers strong emotions for you (always based on your belief system), and if these are repeated long term, they WILL affect your health. Quite often these emotions get projected onto others (blame, anger, fear) in an attempt to relieve our internal pain. Believe me, I have been here before…. we all have!

In order to re-create and re-define our belief system, it takes time, repetition and a great deal of willingness. To take back control of your mind, you need to take full responsibility for everything that is playing out in your life. What you believe to be true is what we will see in the world around you. For example; I am unworthy, I am not safe, I am unlovable, I am powerless, I am not heard…… the list goes on.

Life will just continue to match the state of your mind (on repeat) unless you dive in and do the work to create new beliefs.

One of my favourite lines is:

“We decide what we will make of each and every situation. We decide whether we’ll break or whether we’ll resist. We’ll decide whether we’ll ascend or reject. No one can force us to give up or to believe something that is untrue (such as a situation is completely helpless or impossible to improve). Our perception are the thing that we’re in complete control of.” Ryan Holiday

So if your life isn’t bringing you joy, peace or love…. It’s possibly time to divine in and do the work to set yourself free. Free from suffering.

Much love, Claire x
